Mechanical Engineering Placement

Apco Engineering is a full-service Fitting and Machining and Metal Casting operation and can offer a STEM student depending on their individual ability work experience in the following supervised operations:
• Manual Lathe operation
• Manual Milling Machine operation
• Drilling Machine operation
• CNC Lathe / Vertical Milling Machine programing and operation
• Overhaul of various plant including pumps, gearboxes and hydraulic equipment etc. including report writing
• CAD/ CAM modelling and programing
• Measurement and Documentation
• Foundry molding and metal casting
• Emission Spectrometry Metal Analysis
This placement offers the following learning opportunities:
• Gaining hands on experience with machinery utilized in production of mechanical components.
• Keeping of production documents including material grade and QC measurements.
• Listening to customer needs, working through the issue with fellow engineers, presenting a solution to the customer.
• Development of CAD designs and computer aided testing.
